This is one of those situations where analog thinking meets digital reality. The notion of stopping distribution through legal means is practical in the physical world. The notion of distribution of complex networks comes from physical transportation infrastructure. Digital enables multiple efficient routes. And, there are fewer constraints to information storage in the digital world.

The price of replication continues to drop thanks to technology innovation in storage. We should leverage this for open data “disaster recovery” on one hand. And, managing information velocity on the other.
